The yoga

“It’s not about being good at something. It’s about being good to yourself.”

During our yoga holidays we do yoga twice a day: before breakfast and before dinner. We practice both Kundalini Yoga and Yin Yoga. Usually the morning yoga is held in the beautiful yoga hall, when the weather allows it we do yoga outside under the mulberry tree in the afternoon. The yoga is always taught in a way that is suitable both for beginners and more advanced yogis and yoginis.

Kundalini Yoga

______

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient tradition from India. It’s known to provide powerful tools for coming into the body, calming the mind and getting in touch with our inner truth. Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic yoga form that is becoming more and more popular in the West. The exercises are usually simple and repetitive and are therefore suitable even for beginners. A yoga session consists of a series of exercises (kriya) followed by relaxation and meditation. Singing mantras is an important part of kundalini yoga.

Yin Yoga

______

Yin Yoga is a passive, very calm yoga style where the positions are held for several minutes. When we stay in positions longer than 2-3 minutes, we not only stretch the muscles but also the connective tissue, which is called the fascia tissue. Modern fascia research proves the positive effect of loose and “free” fascia tissues on our health and wellbeing.

The feeling in the body after a Yin Yoga session can be compared to the feeling after getting a whole-body-massage.

“I think we can all live healthier, happier, more relaxed and free lives if we take more time for ourselves. For conscious movement and relaxation of the body, for deep breathing, for meditation.”
